Sleepovers!

Thanks to a long three day weekend I had the time to sew like crazy. Daddy and Sarah played in the other room while the I slaved under the heat of a hot iron and temperamental sewing machine. However, I did manage to crank out an adorable sleeping bag with matching backpack for sleepovers. I found a great tutorial for the sleeping bag here, and another amazing tutorial with printable pattern for the backpack here. Sarah is now ready for an overnight visit with grandparents.

The sleeping bag was really easy to make up until the part where I had to sew lines across the width of the bag to keep the batting in place. First problem, I can not sew a straight line to save my life. Second problem, my machine hates me and decided to stop sewing half way through. I decided to put the machine in time out to think about what it did and just tied the sleeping bag with yarn. I also used velcro to "close" the bag instead of a zipper because it is for a toddler.

The back pack was so easy to make and it looks professional. There are no zippers or snaps so the sewing challenged, like myself, can make this without fear. Plus, it is easier for little hand to get in and out of the bag. Now for all the grandparents, here is a bunch of pictures of Sarah playing with her new things.

And this is what Sarah thought of all the pictures.

Happy Easter!

Today was a great day for the Wells Family. We colored a bunch of eggs and then ate most of them, we went for a walk in the nice spring weather we are having, and we took pictures if Sarah in her Easter dress! Yeah baby pictures! Here she is...

This Blanket is Super Soft

I finally got Sarah's favorite blanket away from her and washed it. As soon as it came out of the dryer I spread it on the floor so she could play on it and this is what happened...

Family

Auntie Leia and Garnet came down for a fun visit. Sarah liked pushing garnet around and pulling out her hair. Not to mention taking everything out of Garnets hands as soon as she picked it up.

Fun day

Sarah has been in such a good mood all day. She has been talking up a storm and climbing on EVERYTHING!

Latest Cat Mauling

Luella and Sarah have a love hate relationship. Sarah loves to chase her and Luella just plain hates the baby. In the first picture, Luella jumped into Sarah's crib while she was napping and clobbered her.
I didn't do anything mom, I swear.

Okay, I pulled her tail.

In this picture, she has just yanked the cat off her perch and got a scratch in return. Anyone want a cat?

Sarah's first trip to the park. She played in the swings and went down the slide. She really liked the slide.

And She's Off!

Sarah can Crawl! One day Sarah was trying to move and they next day she did it. The day after she realized she could go fast and caught the cat. It scared the cat and she slapped the baby but did not scratch her so the cat lived.

Mommy Group

Every week I get together with a group of Mommies I met in birthing classes. We laugh and talk and compare baby notes. It has always been a relaxing fun way to spend an evening until recently. Now the babies are mobile and it is no longer relaxing. :) We tried to get a group picture of the babies, here are a few.

Mommy and Baby Time

Daddy left for a business trip a week ago and Sarah and I have been having a lot of fun. She has discovered a lot of new things.

Toys don't go in the VCR? Really?

New baby toy during the Super bowl.
One toy is never enough for a girl who discovered she has a whole bin.

Baby yoga
She even tried crawling.
We both miss daddy but we are having a lot of fun by ourselves. I tried to get Sarah to sleep in her own room this week but apparently that was one change too many for her. She is now back in my bed and it looks like she will be there for a long while yet.

Hello world

Free baby toys are amazing

Sarah's new toy is a lot of fun! She plays in this thing for an hour straight and I can get so much done.

Barbecue Marinated Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Carrots

I found a recipe for barbecue marinade on the back of a molasses bottle last month and decided to try it out. I didn't follow the recipe exactly, I just eyeballed the amounts. The chicken came out juice and almost falling apart. Dave praised it as fantastic and the best chicken he ever ate. I call that a win. Anyway, here it is.

BBQ Marinade
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup vinegar (I used apple cider vinegar)
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder or a garlic glove
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp hot sauce

Mix everything together and marinade chicken in it for an hour or so and bake at 375 for 30 minutes or so.

I like to add more hot sauce and garlic. It makes it extra yummy. I added a bit of the extra bbq sauce left in the pan on my taters. To roast the carrots I just drizzled olive oil on them added salt, pepper, and rosemary, then roasted at 375 for 30 minutes. I think I will make this a regular meal since it got so many praises from the family.

Family Picture

We decided to try and get a nice family picture and got the typical results. One picture of just our noses, one of the wall behind us, one decent picture, and then this one. I love it. I think I should frame it and keep it forever.

We learned how to sit up!

Now that Sarah is moving around on her own I need to baby proof. She has already shown me that it does not matter if I tuck the cords behind the couch or chair, she is going to get to them anyway.
